Joao Gilberto
Boss of the Bossa Nova
New Continent 101037 – re-issue LP on 180g vinyl

* AllMusic. Born in Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil, singer/ songwriter Joo Gilberto (1931-2019) was a true legend of bossa nova. While Antnio Carlos Jobim set the standard for the creation of bossa nova in the mid-’50s (with songs like “The Girl From Ipanema” and “Desafinado”), it was Gilberto who brilliantly reimagined (and, arguably, defined) the genre. This LP includes the complete contents of Gilberto’s LP Brazil’s Brilliant Joo Gilberto, which received a five star rating on AllMusic, plus several of his greatest hits from his early years. Includes the classic versions of CORCOVADO, SAMBA DE UMA NOTA S, MEDITAO, MANH DE CARNAVAL, INSENSATEZ & DESAFINADO, among many others. 23 TRACKS – 180-GRAM VIRGIN VINYL – LIMITED EDITION
