Recorded in 1958, and released in 1959, one of Blakey’s best known albums features Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons & Jymie Merritt. It was originally released as Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, but the title was quickly changed to Moanin’ due to the popularity of that tune. Considered a classic in the hard bop category. This 180g audiophile vinyl reissue was mastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio. Released as part of Blue Note’s ClassicVinyl Series on 180g.
