Description
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Company (A Musical Comedy) presents the music from the original 1970 Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furths influential musical. Recorded shortly after the shows premiere, the album features the original Broadway cast performing Sondheims score for one of the earliest and most important concept musicals in Broadway history.
Rather than telling a traditional story, Company offers a series of sharply observed scenes centered on Robert, a single man navigating relationships, marriage, and urban life in contemporary New York. The cast includes Dean Jones, Elaine Stritch, Barbara Barrie, Charles Kimbrough, and Donna McKechnie, with standout songs such as Being Alive, The Ladies Who Lunch, and Another Hundred People. Winner of the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, Company remains a defining recording and a key work in Stephen Sondheims career.
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Company (A Musical Comedy) is available as a limited edition on purple vinyl and is packaged in a deluxe sleeve with linen laminate finish.
