Description
Tucked into the mountains of Appalachia, Bristol Motor Speedway is a curious short track located in a largely unknown region of the world in Northeast Tennessee. And yet, the Worlds Fastest Half-Mile Oval represents a vital crossroads between the rowdy past and glitzy present in NASCAR.
Since a humble birth in the 1961 Volunteer 500, BMS has evolved into the motorsports equivalent of Fenway Park, Lambeau Field and Augusta National Golf Course.
Every true NASCAR fan cherishes his or her memories of family outings, spectacular races and charismatic racers. Few stadiums have produced more memorable moments than BMS.
Only the strong and courageous survive this high-banked, high-speed challenge. The elite list of winners over the past half-century of Cup races featured in this book illustrates that point. No fluke champions here.
