Ella Fitzgerald
Ella and Basie
DOL 1261FC – import LP on limited VIOLET colored vinyl

With arrangements by Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald goes head-to-head with Count Basie’s big band in a dazzling display of brassy exuberance, swinging groves, and rhythmic piano that provides a lush, elegant backdrop for Ella’s impeccably controlled scat singing. The singer and the Count had already recorded together in 1957, and their chemistry is flawless here on tracks like “Honeysuckle Rose”, Ain’t Misbehavin”, and “On the Sunny Side of the Street”. A true classic.
