Oum Kalthoum
The Twinkling Star
DOL 1273FC – import LP on limited VIOLETcolored vinyl
The Star of the East and ultimate Egyptian diva of the Arab world, Oum Kalthoum has remained the iconic voice of Middle Eastern music since her death in 1975. With a voice full of emotion, she delivers long, winding musical pieces rich in atmosphere – far from the structured verse-chorus form of Western songs. At once popular and refined, her largely improvised music retains the timeless character of a sacred and exotic symphony from another world.
Tracks:
Ya Bashir Al-Uns
