Staple Singers
Coming Home: The Early Classics
Contrast 9106 – import LP

Soul empress Mavis Staples has mesmerized listeners for decades, and this collection showcases her at the start of a remarkable career. With famed family group The Staple Singers, Mavis, even at age 16, displays a fully formed prowess and instinctive, communicative gift that’s thrilled listeners for generations. Soul-stirring gospel at it’s very finest. This is mostly Vee Jay material. The Staples recorded for Vee Jay from 1955-1961. The album art “borrows” the cover from the 1961 Vee Jay album, The Last Time.

Contains the songs:
Uncloudy Day
Swing Down Chariot
Swing Low
This May Be the Last Time
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
I’m Coming Home Pts 1&2
