“The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record Ive ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I cant believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!” — Taylor Swift

1989is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on October 27, 2014, by Big Machine Records. Inspired by 1980s Synth-pop,Swift conceived1989to recalibrate her artistry to pop after critics disputed her status as acountrymusician when she released her fourth studio album, the cross-genre Red (2012), to country radio. She titled1989after her birth year to signify a symbolic artistic rebirth and enlisted Max Martin, who produced Red’s electronic-influenced pop tracks, as co-executive producer.
